Chronicles, relics, legendary stones and coronations in the Middle Ages
Abstract
This paper is a historical study of the legend of the «Stone of Destiny». It was the seat of the coronation throne o the Scottish kings and was transfered to Westminster Abbey by the king Edward of England. The «Stone of Destiny», as many relics and antiquities of the Middle Ages, has a long story wrote by chronists and historians. This story is very similar to another translationes of relics. The story of the «Stone of Destiny» has many juridical, political and sacral aspects. To understand them we need to analyze chronic, understood as historical texts, which give meaning to the legal and political rituals of the Middle Ages.Downloads
