Collective bargaining and wages in Spain: an aggregate economic analysis
Abstract
This article analyzes the negotiated wages in collective agreements, paying special attention to the effects that Spanish model of collective bargaing and wage policies agreed by social actors in the last years have had on wages. Besides, the role of the guarantee clause in the negotiated wages is studied, as well as its relation with inflation, the economic situation and workers’ productivity. In addition, the relation between negotiated wages and paid wages is taken into account, considering the impact of both the so-called wage drift and the composition-effect over the paid wages. Finally, the possible rigidity or flexibility of real negotiated wages is explored, as well as the relation between wages, productivity and unit labour costs.Downloads
