Abstract
.- A synthesis is presented of the last analysis work on vegetal remains of seeds and fruits from sites of the II and I millennium BC in the western Catalonian region. The most frequent cultivated plants were the ce reals, specially barley (Hordeum vulgare) and wheat (Triticum aestivum/durum), the leguminosae being genera lly scarce (Lens culinaris and Pisum sativum). The new cultivated species such as the millets (Panicum milia ceum, Setaria italica) and the flax (Linum usitatissimum) are known from the middle of II millennium BC, while the oats (Avena sativa) appears during the Iberian epoch (second half of I millennium BC). Some evidence about gathering has also been recorded, of acorns (Quercus sp.), wild grapes (Vitis vinifera ssp. silvestris), and rye grass (Lolium sp.).Downloads
