Tradición tecnológica y variaciones técnicas en la producción cerámica mapuche
Abstract
The present work is the result of an ethnoarchaeological investigation made in the central valleys of Chile between 1999 and 2007. The chaine operatoire of different pottery populations using ethnographic, historic and archaeological sources has been studied. Our aim was to find out similarities and differences in the technical sequences of fabrication between centres of production and determine which are the causes of the observed variability. Starting from these premises, a technological tradition of Mapuche origin is singled out and, within this tradition, the development was observed of technical variations related to different historical and territorial dynamics.Downloads
