The "Signum Equitum" of El Otero (Rueda de Pisuerga, Prov. Palencia,Spain) and the "Signa Equitum" of the Historical Cantabria
Abstract
It is presented a new signum equitum found in the fortified hillfort at El Otero (Rueda de Pisuerga, Palencia). This finding is added to the other ones already known within the Historical Cantabria. The detailed study of all the findings known in that area distinguishes a new group of signa equitum. These objects be used possibly as auctions of sceptres or batons and would comply with the distinctive function of belonging to a group or social class, that of the equites.
