"Three Fantastic Weeks of Provocation". Krushchev's References to Spain in the Assembly of the UN of 1960
Abstract
On September 20, 1960, Nikita Khrushchev made his second trip to the United States, leading the USSR delegation to the 15th UN Assembly. There, he revolutionized his sessions with a belligerent attitude, and was involved in several incidents, still remembered today. His criticism also reached Spain. This article aims to conveniently expose these events and contextualize them to help understand the causes that motivated them. Through the analysis of archival and journalistic sources of the time, the chain of events will be reconstructed, and points of view will be confronted. Subsequently, the questions raised at the beginning will be answered.
