The idea of Nation in University Speech: the Presence of Spain in the Keynote Speeches of Salamanca University 1902-1923)
Abstract
This item tries to study the contribution of Salamanca University to Spanish Nationalism building through twenty analyzed keynote speeches from 1902 to 1923. Different ideological and political approaches involved in this Nationalism process are able to be understood; many of them were run in XIX Century including tendencies and persons against this dominant opinion. Besides, these keynote speeches ruled an important place in university rituals so they are a privileged stuff for approaching the depth, diversity and extension of Nationalism process in the Spanish Academic thinking. After studying these oratorical pieces and their politic contexts, the work focuses on the historical overview over it with a special look over Spain as a Nation idea.Downloads
