Abstract

The present article offers a study of Lysistrata’s classical tradition, the literary character created by Aristophanes at the end of Vth century B.C. A panorama is offered from the Antiquity to the end of XXth century. In this way, we analyze the different faces of this literary personage, the different ways in wich Lysistrata has been interpreted and assimilated throughout the time, and, finally, its renovation in the contemporary age, historical moment in which Lysistrata has become the most well-known comedy of Aristophanes.
