La doctrina de los pulsos de Galeno en el siglo XVIII: El ejemplo de Francisco Solano de Luque
Abstract
Galen’s doctrine on the pulse attracted renewed interest during 18th century thanks to the observations that Francisco Solano de Luque published in 1732 and 1787. His fame in Europe is the result of the publicity given to the observations by James Nihell and Gerard van Swieten. The work was translated into five languages, summarized, commented upon, extracted and enriched by many others. In the current study we discuss the fact that Solano de Luque was aware of only part of the doctrine and that much of what Galen had written remained inknown and unobserved.Downloads
