Abstract

Virgil uses in the Aeneid several personal names of the theme Thy(m)b-, Θύ(μ)βρ-: Thybris, Thymbraeus, Thymbris, Thymber and Thymbre. Although the analysis of the first three is not too complicated, the provenance of the last two raises certain difficulties which this brief note aims to resolve.
