Literary Criticism and Bragging through a Lexeme in Aristophanes
Abstract
The term κόμπος and its cognates have multiple uses in literary texts, which are often confusing. Through the study of the precise semantic values and functions of such terminology, this paper analyses its presence in Aristophanes’ comedies (Ar. Ach. 589, 1182; Eq. 696; V. 1248; Au. 1126; Ra. 839, 940, 961).
