Abstract

Louis de La Forge, based on the suggestions of Descartes, sketches a theory of imitation of passions in his Remarks about the Treatise of Man. This theory contrasts with the elements he suggests in his Treatise on the Human Mind. The analysis of these two works allows us to reconstruct two types of mimetic inclinations on which will be based, what will be considered as a passionate or affective contagion in the Cartesian milieu.
