The Rest, the Thing and the Unconditioned: Schelling with Lacan

Abstract

From the known passage of F.W.J Schelling’s Vom Ich (“Bedingen [to condition] names the operation in which something becomes a Ding [thing]”) the text proposes a reading of the concept known as “irreducible remainder” to explain the terror and of its mechanisms of control. It is proposed, criticizing what Žižek does with Hegel, a lacanian reading of Schelling that shows how far the “Hegel” presented by Žižek is not only a Hegel through Lacan, but also through Schelling.
