Giving birth to Centaurs: Method, Sciencie and Philosophy in F. Nietzsche’s Genealogy
Abstract
What is the relation between science and its methods on the one hand, and genealogy on the other? To answer this question is the fundamental purpose of this paper. In order to do so, I will endeavour a triple analysis of the question, which proceeds from less to much more depth and theoretical radicalism: first, I will show the way in which science is used by the genealogical critique; second, I will expound the genealogical critique of science, and, third, I will consider Nietzsche’s pretension to have established a new criterion to evaluate knowledge in general and scientific knowledge in particular.
