Arabic Influences on Lorca’s Works - اشراقات عربية فى إبداع لورآا
Abstract
The paper studies the influence of Oriental Arabic poetry in general and Andalusian poetry in particular in Lorca’s work. The best example of these influences is his Divan del Tamarit which includes a series of poems starting with the Arabic words “Gacel” or “Casida”. The paper also shows the similarity between certain poetic forms sometimes used by Lorca, as in his collection Romancero gitano and the Andalusian muwaššaha, as well as the peculiarities of Arabic poetry that left a mark in his work: his use of short verses, the influence of popular folklore, the theme of fear of death, the double consideration of sexuality and other elements which certainly originated in Andalusian and Oriental poetry.Downloads
