Arabic and Berber Onomastic in the Toponymy of Castilla-La Mancha: Guadalajara
Abstract
This article deals wih a specific area of the Arabic toponymy of the Castilla-La Mancha province of Guadalajara: Arabic and Berber personal names reflected in place names. The analyzed index contains actual place names, names of unhabited places and disappeared historical and geographical names. Five concrete geographical sectors and one final general section have been identified for the study. The philological and etymological analysis is completed with numerous geographical, historical and archaeological data conveniently classified within each geographic area and toponymic entry. This paper is a contribution to the study of Andalusi Guadalajara and its territory through research on Arabic and Berber personal names registered by toponymic sources.Downloads
