The rural drama in the Spanish and Egyptian novel: The innocent saints by Miguel Delibes and al-Wasiyya (Fief) by Khalil Hassan Khalil
Abstract
This research work consists of the analysis and comparison of two very prominent novels in Spanish and Egyptian literature: The innocent saints (1983) and al-Wathyya (1987). The purpose of this study is to bring the Arab reality closer to the Spanish, highlighting the confluence and similarity that exist between both novels, which are manifested in some very common features in the way of life of the characters: exploitation, conformism or blind obedience, humiliation and marginalization to which the protagonists of the two novels are subjected in a very similar rural setting.
