Solidarity Through Writing or Caroline Lamarche’s Engagement with Trauma
Abstract
This article explores the theme of solidarity in contemporary works (2020-2024) by Belgian author Caroline Lamarche. The objective is to identify signs of solidarity in her documentary writings (Zoonose and Toujours l’eau) as well as in her literary works, including the poems from Fleurs de funérailles, Dix ans, and Cher instant je te vois). We will highlight the presence of solidarity as a value in these texts and examine how, through the act of writing, Caroline Lamarche aligns herself with individuals and collectives in situations of vulnerability and how she engages in an act of solidarity by creating connections. Particular attention will be given to the aesthetic forms in which a solidarity-driven writing is embedded.
