Representations of Natural Space in the Poetic Work of Jordi Pere Cerdà
Abstract
This article analyzes the different ways in which the author Jordi Pere Cerdà (Saillagouse, Cerdaña, 1920 – Perpignan, 2011) represents nature in several poems from his lyrical work. Given that the evocation of nature is a recurring theme in his writing, we will explore how natural elements are poetically depicted, along with the various techniques used in each poem. To organize the analysis thematically, we will examine the description of the Cerdagne landscape, the representation of the Franco-Spanish border through nature, the connection between the inhabitants of Cerdagne and their natural environment, and finally, the author’s introspective reflection on his homeland, his culture, and the creative act of being a poet.
