The presence of René Char in the poetry of Jorge Riechmann

Abstract

This article studies the influence exerted by René Char’s poetry on the literary work of Jorge Riechmann. This research argues that, beyond the numerous quotes and references of the poems of René Char that Riechmann uses in his work, René Char’s poetry is essential to understand the function of poetry that Riechmann defends through the concepts of “poesía de la conciencia crítica” and “poesía del desconsuelo” under which he defines his lyrical proposal. To demonstrate this hypothesis, I will study the elaboration of the idea of poetic action, the use of the dialectic of opposites and the function of the eroticism in Fureur et mystère of René Char and in Cántico de la erosión and Cuaderno de Berlínby Jorge Riechmann.
