Abstract

This study consists of the analysis and the commentary of the Traité complet de l’anatomie de l’homme 19th century doctor and anatomist Jean-Baptiste Marc Bourgery. Our aim is to analyse and solve the difficulties implied in scientific texts, and to produce a correct translation from the terminological, linguistic and pragmatic point of view. Due to the extension of the complete work, we have chosen a series of extracts about different subjects, although human anatomy is the base of the whole work. The study begins with a presentation of the main characteristics and difficulties of textual typologies on different levels; secondly, the source text in analysed; thirdly, the translation is provided, with a justification of the choices made in the final version.
