Abstract

This article analyzes love in Rachilde’s novels (1860-1953). Although the writer completely rejects the sentimental novel, love is one of the recurrent topics in her work. Nevertheless, the kind of love she always deals with is malheureux love. This is manifested in the fact that the novels’ characters accurately represent Decadence, and are not worthy of knowing absolute love.
