Origin, Resumption and Emergence of Quebecois Literature
Abstract
This article analyzes the emergence of francophone Canadian literature, its birth and evolution, in three important moments in the literary history of Quebec: origins, approaching the founding texts of New France’s literary life; 1760, year in which New France becomes an English colony, originating a new beginning; and the Quiet Revolution, period in which the francophone literature becomes strictly Quebecois. The question of the origins, orientation and transformation of French literature in Quebec is a literary project unavoidably subjected to the questions of language and national definition.Downloads
