Abstract

This article is based on a singular request from the Revista Sociología del Trabajo. A group of sociologists of work were asked to take a trip back in time to observe the production process of our doctoral theses from a reflective perspective. This brilliant proposal will help new people who enter into social research by chance, possibility or conviction to clarify the difficulties, learning and, above all, the personal and community transformations that such a life experience entails. The text you can read below is written in the first person, it is an exercise in nudity based on the conviction of the central importance of understanding the interrelation between the conditions of possibility, the social origin and the learning process of the author and the scientific product of his or her work and dedication. It is a thesis on the strategies of social reproduction and the working conditions of a southern European territory where labour contingency and life uncertainty are the rules that condition the strategies of social reproduction of the working class. At the risk of appearing presumptuous, I hope that this contribution will help the discipline of the sociology of work, to which I owe so much, to continue to develop.
