A conversation with Leopoldina Fortunati: author of The Arcane of Reproduction
Abstract
It is transcribed a conversation with Italian sociologist and feminist activist Leopoldina Fortunati, author of The Arcane of Reproduction: Housewives, Prostitutes, Workers and Capital (1981), one of the most original and profound works that uses the categories of Marx's Capital to conceptualize and politicize domestic, sexual and reproductive labor. Four decades after his classic work, we talk about the history and the future of the crisis in the sphere of reproduction, the recognition and feminist refusal of domestic labor, the transformations of family forms or the demands for Basic Income and shorter hours.
