Between lights and shades. The qualified labor precariousness in Creative and Cultural Industries
Abstract
Creative and Cultural Industries (CCI) are characterized by having a precarious and segmented labor market manly due to the emerging ways of contracting such as freelance. These traits are the theoretical background are revealed as part of its habitus, which present them as a type of precarious but elitist industry because of technical, social, economic and gendered reasons. By analyzing the CCI in Mexico through the National Employment and Occupation Survey findings were that it is qualified since the high educational level of the employees, the majority with higher education. Additionally, their flexible trait in employability due to the diversity of bachelor degrees different from arts and design. Therefore, it is mainly a precarious highly qualified industry, workers receive low salaries but most of them have higher education.
