TRAYECTORIAS OCUPACIONALES Y RESIDENCIALES DE LOS INMIGRANTES EXTRANJEROS EN LAS AREAS RURALES ESPAÑOLAS
Abstract
El texto explora las trayectorias residenciales y ocupacionales de los trabajadores extranjeros residentes en áreas rurales a partir de la Encuesta Nacional de Inmigración (2007). La investigación destaca la elevada movilidad espacial y laboral de este colectivo que es el soporte de actividades en áreas donde el suministro de mano de obra local aparece agotado. Se constata el ambivalente impacto de estas migraciones sobre las estructuras demográficas rurales. Amplían las generaciones activas que sostienen sus economías y comunidades mientras refuerzan la masculinización de ciertas áreas. El análisis muestra que las localidades rurales son para este colectivo una estación de paso hacia otros entornos con mayor dinamismo económico. Se constata que el arraigo de esta población está claramente vinculado a las oportunidades de consolidación de sus proyectos familiares.
OCCUPATIONAL AND RESIDENTIAL TRAJECTORIES OF FOREIGN IMMIGRANTS IN SPANISH RURAL AREAS
This paper explores the residential and occupational trajectories of foreign wostrevistaucm@gmail.comrkers living in Spanish rural areas by using the data from 2007 National Immigration Survey. The analysis shows a high spatial and activity mobility. We also note the ambivalent impact on rural demographic structures of such migrations. While they contribute to increase in number the active generations, that supporting rural economies and communities, also they reinforce the weight of male population in certain areas. Foreign immigrants perceive rural places as a way station in the travel to other areas more economically dynamic. The processes of settlement of these groups are significantly related to the local opportunities for consolidation of their family projects.
