Railwaymen identities and esprit de corps in Spain, 1940-1965
Abstract
This article aims to show the internal fragmentation of the complex occupational community composed by Spanish railwaymen in the mid twentieth century; to ap-prehend the diverse identities that can be found within it and to unveil the problems that it posed to the direction of the companies. The argument slides through diffe-rent blocks and it leads us from the study of the job categories involved in the core business process that do develop a proper identity, to their operational interdepen-dency, to the analysis of the conflicts that arise between them and finally to the use of the esprit de corps as a mean to overcome those difficulties.Downloads
