Abstract

The objective of this article is to analyze the situation of musical work in Mexico/Chiapas from the Marxist Theory of Dependency and the Theory of Social Reproduction. The categories of superexploitation of the labor-force and generational reproduction of the labor-force. The methodology employed was a combination of data. The results indicate the mechanisms of the superexploitation of the musical workforce that condition the precariousness processes reflected in musical employment. These processes are articulated with the crisis in cultural public policies, the absence of labor legislation in favor of artists, and the various forms of subordination to capital. Concurrently, the structural conditions that had previously been obscured became evident. At the same time, the gendered inequalities that had existed prior to the onset of the Covid-19 syndemic became more pronounced and have persisted to the present day.
