The syntactic aspect of semantic ambiguitat in Galician-Portuguese love poetry
Abstract
The article proposes some considerations on the semantic aequivocatio in Galician-Portuguese lyric courtly poetry, in relation to its possible syntactic implications. Based on the notion of ambiguitat, developed by poetric treatises, a wider analysis will be offered on the main stylistic strategies used by troubadours in order to play with polysemic words. Furthermore, this examination will allow to understand the difference between the semantic ambiguity, typical of the amorous genre, and the notion of hequivocatio of the Arte de trovar, and it will allow also to reflect on the need to focus attention on the syntantic-stylistic aspect of troubadour poetry, which is sometimes neglected.
