Eugeni d’Ors revives Prometheus
Abstract
This paper is devoted to research into the birth and construction of the ancestral myth of Prometheus and then goes on to analyses the process followed by Eugeni d’Ors to rewrite it in his theatrical play El nou Prometeu encadenat (1920). With the help of the methodology proposed by Genette in Palimpsestes. La littérature au second degré (1982), as well as the contributions of other scholars, such as Riffaterre, the paper shows all the hypertextual operations carried out by Ors to rewrite Prometheus Bound by Aeschylus. Finally the last point is dedicated to explaining the context of creation of the work and the biographical and political implications.
