Prolegomena for a Hermeneutic Philosophy of Religion in Paul Ricoeur
Abstract
Paul Ricoeur is recognized as one of the most influential philosophers of the 20th century, standing out in the
French phenomenological tradition for his exploration of the relationships between rationality and the sacred, between
philosophy and religion. This article examines Paul Ricoeur’s conception of the hermeneutic method as a pathway to
a «philosophy of religion» capable of probing the symbolic and mythopoetic sources of thought. This, I argue, makes
Ricoeur a key figure in 20th-century philosophy of religion, offering significant contributions to this discipline.
