Infinity and Transition in Hegel’s Science of Logic
Abstract
The convenience of distinguishing three distinct logics operating in Hegel's Logic, one logic for each doctrine, is a widely assumed precaution when considering the inner workings of the determinations and their relations. Along with this conviction, however, there is the shadow of a hiatus or disconnection between the logics of the Logic that threatens to hinder the unity of the system. Through an analysis of the speculative appearance of the Übergang in the relation between the finite and true infinity, as well as its presence in the different doctrines of the Science of Logic, this study argues for a continuity in the development of determinations that enhances the internal coherence of the Hegelian logical project.
