Quantum Darwinism and Existential Interpretation: Ontological Issues
Abstract
This article critically analyzes Zurek’s proposal to the measurement problem, centered on Quantum Darwinism and the existential interpretation. It examines how this perspective seeks to reconcile the unitary formalism with the observation of definite outcomes in macroscopic systems, highlighting the role of decoherence and informational redundancy in the emergence of objectivity. The concept of extanton is introduced as a model of objective existence, and its ontological coherence and relation to the interpretations of Bohr and Everett are evaluated. Finally, the article discusses the philosophical implications of this proposal, and its effectiveness as a solution to the measurement problem.
