The expression of radical existence in the poetry of Unamuno in the light of the philosophy of the limit
Abstract
The series of Psalms included in the first book of poetry Unamuno ever published shows the main themes of his existential thinking: the quest for meaning, the uselessness of rationality in this search, the veiled existence of the divinity. Unamuno grounded the basis for a subsequent development of Spanish philosophy in a way in which mysticism could have a relevant role in it, as happens in Eugenio Trías’s philosophy of the limit. Methodologically, the latter will be used as a hermeneutic approach to Unamuno’s ideas, in such a way that the apparent contradictions and paradoxes found in the reading of these poems may be settled.
