Let the Blood Flow. Politicization of Pain as Consciousness and Resistance in Adorno
Abstract
Adorno considers that the unjust physical and individual pain produced by the system of domination has been hidden and silenced by Hegelian philosophy of identity, on the one hand, and by the cultural industry, on the other. On the contrary, Adorno believes that it is necessary to give voice to suffering, because that consciousness, as resistance, is the only utopian hope of salvation that humanity has. This is politicizing pain. To do so is the task he assigns to authentic art and to negative dialectics.
