The sociology of power in the thought of Ortega y Gasset
Abstract
The following pages deal with the sociology of power in the thought of Ortega y Gasset (1883-1955). From classical antiquity, the idea of power is conceived from the point of view of politics or the State. In Ortega’s work, which is part of the tradition of political thought, we can find this conventional conception of power, but also –and this is what justifies the election of this topic– a broader meaning of power, because Ortega talks about power in the social field.
