Panofsky: The conflict between linear perspective and angular perspective
Abstract
The article defends that the conflict suggested by Panofsky among proposition 8 of Euclid’s optics and the linear perspective is unfounded. It will be shown that Piero della Francesca’s rules of construction perspective used the definitions of Euclid and harmonize without difficulty the projection perspective and proposition 8. Therefore, if the emergence of modern space requires a break with Psychophysiological space, as suggested by Panofsky, this breakdown has to be defended with different arguments.Downloads
