The "Dissoì Lógoi": A New Structural and Philosophic Analysis
Abstract
To admit that the Dissoì Lógoi were written during the mid-5th century (BCE), as Santo Mazzarino has proposed, allows one to cease considering them as a mere appendix to the Sophists. I am proposing a new analysis of their structure, and will argue that fragments 8 and 9 take into account the thesis criticized by the author, not the one defended by him. This restores the original aroma to philosophical discussions, before Plato submitted it to his intellectual sieve.Downloads
