The philosophy of technique in the thought of José Gaos
Abstract
José Gaos's philosophy of technology focuses, from an anthropological and phenomenological perspective, on the relationship between the human being and technology in the context of contemporary society. For Gaos, technology is not confined solely to an instrumental reality but has taken on a decisive role in shaping modern life and the way humans relate to the world. Gaos's interest in technology extends to ethical and social reflection, emphasizing the importance and necessity of a critical approach to its development and use. In this sense, and as a main conclusion, for Gaos, technology can be an emancipatory and liberating mechanism, but it can also become an oppressive mechanism that conceals something essential to the human being: rationality.
