Abstract

Purpose of the Study. To determine the influence age, wage work, joint causes and the type of treatment have in the evolution of whiplash syndromes studied by traumatology specialists of the Medical Forensic Practice in Madrid. To determine the most common permanent impairments. Compare these results with those published by other authors.

Basic precedents. Various authors (evaluators, specialists, forensic physicians, Insalud (National Health System) have studied the influence various factors have on the evolution of the whiplash syndrome. It is of great interest to us to have results of forensic evaluators who as such are specialists.

Findings. Results have been obtained regarding the influence in evolution according to age, previous condition, the existence of work being dependent or not, and the type of treatment required. The most frequent permanent impairments have been obtained as well.

Main Conclusions. There is a negative influence as far as the evolution of the injured in wage workers, those who are oldest, those who have previous local joint causes and those who have required more complex treatments.
