Abstract

The author considers PGD as a paradigm exponent of predictive genetics, reviewing the legal situation of this technique in Spain, in other European countries and the United States, as well as the bioethical aspects of the questions implied. He also takes into consideration the positions in this matter of the atholic Church, Protestantism, Islam and Judaism, at the same time as commenting on the main ethical currents about embryo statute.

Finally, special mention is made of the bio-judicial aspects presented by extensive PGD or with therapeutical objectives for others, and in the cases of diseases, multifactor or with variable phenotypical expression which could appear later.
