El desarrollo en Arica: del estancamiento a la crisis permanente

  • Mbuyi Kabunda UAM

Abstract

The essay disclosses the historical failure of all patterns of development imposed by industrialized countries for the last forty years, based primarily on “western modernization” and structural adjustment through initiatives such as the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD). The alternative, according to the author, is the come back of “afrocentrism” or the endogenous capacity for self-development, in which the restoration of the African’s social and cultural context plays a prominent rol. The “panafricanized ujamaa”, as the author states, could be the way out.
