Childhood in the Romany community: an exploratory analysis of segregated schools
Abstract
This study questions the way in which the right to education and childcare of Romani boys and girls in a situation of exclusion and school segregation in the province of Alicante (Spain) is affected. It uses a phenomenological design to find out the perception of children and professionals, taking as variables: segregated and non-segregated school. Although school segregation is an undesired fact nowadays, it is treated in a fragmentary and discontinuous way, if not ignored with an apparent indolence.
