Abstract

Many million people lives are closely linked to the environment. Sustainable development, from an environmental perspective, is a key factor at the time of eliminating poverty, fostering sustainable development, reducing some migratory movements and avoiding the environmental impact of others. Among the different possibilities of migratory movements, the rural-rural and rural-urban movements were chosen due to their relation with the environmental problems. These lines focus particularly on the agricultural frontier expansion in the tropical areas, the growing urbanization, the movements towards coastal areas, desertification, the debate about the environmental refugees and the effects of climate change.
