Both the UN General Assembly and the Security Council have approved the creation of a Peacebuilding Commission as a new intergovernmental body which is meant to make up for the absence of a regular UN structure to adequately respond to a post conflict stage and to improve the organisation’s peace building and peace keeping capacity. Nevertheless, it is important to point out that the core problems identified in the post-war stage remain unanswered.
