Abstract
This article intends contributing to the debate on women’s urban security, exploring the issue from a citizenship-based approach. It analyses women’s urban specific insecurity characteristics and how they are linked to gender disparity, as well as the local governments’ role. Finally, it proposes a political debate on the cultural redefinition of gender identities.
