From rubber to oil: the extractive in the Amazon region of Loreto (Peru)
Abstract
The Loreto region in the Peruvian Amazon, has been the scene of rubber and oil exploitation by the hands of national and international companies; developing similar dynamics between both activities, such as extractive character of the cycles, the displacement of other productive activities and authorities reliance on their revenues. With oil extraction, customs and territory of indigenous communities are affected leading to social effects, deepening the role of community relations departments and review of technical and legal aspects by the stakeholders.
