Public-Private Partnership in German Development Cooperation: the develoPPP.de program
Abstract
Although German development cooperation was initially characterized as being conditioned to political-ideological and image interests of the new federal state, we now know that it also greatly promoted its commercial interests and the export drive of post-war governments, favouring the economic take off of Germany. Since 1999 this coordination between public and private sectors, has allowed a better articulation between foreign trade and the development policies of the German government. The objective of this article is to analyse the evolution of German public-private partnerships and to assess its impact in partner countries, taking as an example the develoPPP.de program.
