Humanitarian aid in a turbulent international context: prospects and challenges
Abstract
The volume and magnitude of humanitarian crises, together with shifting development funding patterns, are shaping an unprecedented era of development cooperation and humanitarian action. This article analyses the impact of these new dynamics on humanitarian aid and possible strategies to address the risks of underfunding for millions of people around the world. It also reflects on the double vulnerability of forgotten crises to determine the scenario they face when they are out of the media spotlight and off the international agenda.
